After her practice of promotional designer and
design activity, she has been engaged mainly in
promotional graphics since 1990. Besides logotype
drafts (e.g. Freeart, Jablkoň, Category, Filia,
Petrov,…), she creates graphical solutions of
company printed matters (Centre for Family,
Information Centre Petrov, Disa, Promi, Sportland,…).
We can find a number of book jackets, book layouts
including illustrations in her creation (the
extensive songbook by Ulrych siblings called “SONGS”,
“Reproduction Health 2005 – 2008” – printed matters
for the University of South Bohemia, Easter in Czech
popular culture – Vyšehrad publishing house, Songs
from the Painter’s Pallet – book + CD about the life
and work of Joža Uprka, ...) and dozens of CD
jackets (for JABLKOŇ band, a series of music titles
for GNOSIS BRNO, Jiří Plocek’s publishing house).

She is engaged in free creation at the same time.
She has illustrated poems by Jan Skácel, Josef
Kainar, the Chinese poet Li-Po. In recent years,
verses by Kristina Černá have been appearing in her
drawings most frequently. She likes to work with
watercolour combined with drawing line. She uses
also the blind-blocking technique in her
illustrations. Magdalena Říčná’s love for
calligraphy was present during her studies already.
The proof of it can be seen in illustrations that
are always accompanied by hand-written script or
commemorative prints created for the Czech Ministry
of Culture, the National Institute of Popular
Culture of Strážnice and other institutions.
Since 1982 she has had regular self-standing
exhibitions (Prague, Brno, Boskovice, Lysice, Náměšť
nad Oslavou, Mikulov, Znojmo, Oslo, Stockholm). Her
graphic works were selected for International
Exhibitions of graphic design in Brno and they are
represented in the collections of the Moravian
Gallery of Brno as well.
