REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE - GAMETE DONATION
Dear Sir or Madam,
We are sorry that your path to parenthood has not been as smooth and simple as you may have imagined. We would like to help the people who are in a similar situation as you - considering advantages of gamete donation. To make our assistance efficient we also need support from you. We need to understand the situation in which you are an expert.
We would very much appreciate if you could share with us yours feelings, experience, opinions and perhaps also your concerns and uncertainties. You may be asking yourself why you actually want to have a child and what you expect the parenthood to brig to you. You may not have the same opinion as your spouse about whether to use the gamete donation or not and maybe you are conducting (or not conducting) lengthy discussions about it. You may be trying to guess what makes up your relationship to the child or you may be thinking about the role of the genetic bond and that of the determination to love the child. You may be thinking about the future relationship with your partner when only one of you will be genetically related to the child. Some people would like to meet their gamete donor, some would prefer not to; people have different views of whether to tell the child the details of his/her conception, whether to tell to someone else and when. In some countries the child has the right to meet his/her gamete donor at a certain age (in the Czech Republic the donation is anonymous pursuant to the Act No. 227/2006 Coll.).
There are certainly dozens of topics you need to deal with but you are with them alone ... And there are people facing the same problems but you do not know each other ... It is well possible that you may help each other by sharing your stories, reflections, experience, perhaps also by improving our professional expertise.

The only information we would like to kindly request is your home country. The collected data will be treated in agreement with the Czech Act on protection of personal data No. 101/2000 Coll. The data will be processed within the research project GAER No. P407/10/0822 "Gamete Donation in Assisted Reproduction: Psychosocial and Ethical Aspects". Results of the research will be posted on the website of Ms. Hana Konečná after the project completion.
